250 riders got on their bikes for the first ever Children’s Cancer Ride in Newcastle last month to raise vital funds for NECCR to fight childhood cancer. The event sold out in advance and is the first in a series of special events to mark our 40th anniversary.

Riders could choose from a 9 mile or 22 mile route, both starting and finishing at the Cycle Hub on Newcastle Quayside, taking in the views up the Tyne river to Wylam for the longer ride, following the well established Coast 2 Coast route. Once over the finish line, riders received a medal, neck buff and cycling accessories donated by Lookers.

Well done to everyone who took part and thanks to our volunteers for making the day a huge success! Check out our gallery on Facebook to see all the fun from the day

Other events being organised for the 40th anniversary celebrations include the 1st Carlisle Children’s Cancer Run and our 40th anniversary ball at the Biscuit Factory.
